|About the Company:
Trained as an industrial designer Poonam
enjoys the mundane. Her experience with
teaching and working in both industrial
and craft sectors inform her work on her
consultancy and design projects. Daily
Dump is an endeavor where she is
experimenting with how design can play
out in ways that perhaps were not really
explored before. Often asked what
motivated her to begin such a project,
her short reply is - Design used well, can
help you see whole systems. So this is
her journey - using design to make sense
of whole systems.
Poonam is passionate about design
education. Poonam is one of the founding
faculty at Srishti School of Art, Design
and Technology Bangalore. Apart from
designing and delivering cutting-edge
programmes for Srishtis design students
(Foundation programme, Design Lab,
Design for Community and Self,
Unlearning), Poonam has also facilitated
and managed student interactions with
craftspeople, NGOs, industry/ corporates,
academics from national and international
design schools, government and other
stakeholders. She stopped teaching at
Srishti in May 2007.
Daily Dump has been selected as one of
the Top Nominees for the INDEX Design
It has also received many other awards.
The interesting thing is that there are
independent businesses that have been
enabled by the knowledge base of Daily
Dump all over the country.
Daily Dump has received a lot of attention
from the community and the press.
Poonam was chosen to be a TED fellow at
TED India in 2009 Nov.
