Gentle exercice
A study on New Forms of Physical and Psychosocial Health Risks at Work for the European Parliamant indicates physical inactivity as an emerging risk for workers.
Member states are now taking measures to tackle physical inactivity. Flanders issued in 2009 a decree recommending exercising 30 minutes a day.
Webike invites sedentary employees to get up and exercise together with colleagues, friends, family in a most easy way.
Productivity
It is common knowledge that after physical exercising, the work performance is consistently higher. One manages better her/his time and improves his/her mental sharpness.
The same is true for work performance during simultaneous or instant physical activity. Unconsciously, when making a phone call which needs all of ones concentration, one tends to start walking around while speaking.
TNO (the Netherlands) recently studied the effect of gentle cycling (at a speed of 30% of ones maximum) on work performance. The study proves that while the speed of typing was approximately the same as in the sitting-still mode, the speed of reading was enhanced by at least 30%
Smart energy
Well-being is all about physical and mental health. WeBike helps you achieving this in a smart way.
WeBike converts human power into useful electrical energy. WeBike communicates autonomously and provides information on your performance.
WeBike displays instantly the degree of physical activity you are performing. The more power you deliver, the more leds will light up in the led strip.
When WeBike performs enough energy to charge the device initially plugged in, the bottom led strip will light up, indicating WeBike charges the device based on your human power.
Sustainability
Building WeBike we carefully looked at the sustainability of every of the components that we used.
We fully subscribe to the 3P-concept of sustainability: People, Planet & Profit.
Flanders, with its rich biking tradition, delivers the best skills. Concept, design and manufacturing is therefore "made in Flanders".
For the manufacturing of the Webike, we closely work together with social enterprises, caring about the weaker of society
Eventually, Webike takes care of the health of its user due to its easy exercise.
For the materials we worked with the ovam ecological guideluines.
We chose to use PEFC labeled W.R. Cedar, moreover, we re-use those battens which are not suited for architectural cladding because of their knots, imperfections or production faults
The saddle is made out of leather waste from the upholstery industry, not minding small skin defects like scar tissue, insect bites, etc
The basic construction is made out of aluminium, to reduce transport weight and to enhance the products recyclability.
All profits made will be reinvested in innovation for WeBike.
