Entry Title: " Plate-Oh"
Company:
, Jordan
Category: Professional, Concept
Designer(s): Sahar Madanat Haddad

Entry Description:

Plate-oh is a biodegradable and disposable paper plate concept that can be reused many times without washing. By peeling off the top layer after each use, the consumer literally uses up the plate to the last layer!
Instead of using a traditional paper plate and then tossing it away while it's still in good condition just because the top layer was soiled by food!

This is a concept that strips down plates and the way we use them. Keeping all the conveniences of paper plates, yet by manufacturing them differently, we can have on plate that replaces as many as ten standard plates.

Minimizing waste in land fills and saving many trees.

Most importantly the concept of peeling off only the used layers, has the potential to give birth to a wide range of disposable products beyond paper plates; giving consumers a new perspective on product consumption and ultimately changing behaviour, to a greener, more environmentally conscious society.

Manufacturing & Structure:
- 10 Thin biodegradable sheets
(can be waxed for extra water and tear resistance)

- Thicker biodegradable base to give strength when reaching last few layers.

- Natural adhesive applied to the outer edges of all the layers, acting as a belt holding everything together. One corner is left without adhesive to allow the user to peel off.

- The Layers are steam pressed together for hold and structure.
